Johns Cove Beach is on the way to Cape Forchu lighthouse, a major landmark. From this location you can paddle back into the harbour or out and around Cape Forchu. The headland can have tricky currents and waves so caution is advised. It is also possible to paddle through an opening at Yarmouth Bar (see your map) and avoid the Cape Forchu area all together. If paddling along the coast, the Yarmouth Bar passage is shorter and safer than the Cape Forchue route. Exercise caution in Yarmouth Harbour. The ferrys make regular arrivals and departures and there is some commercial and recreational power boat traffic.
